"Partnership is the key element in the agreement," attests Sabine's president Doran Oster. "Audio-Technica is an undisputed leader in the microphone world," he states. "Our customers in the UK will benefit from the synergy of this new affiliation."

"Sabine digital signal processors will most certainly complement our own Audio Technica products," states Maher, "and ultimately offer our customers a tremendous advantage."

Audio-Technica Ltd. distributes Audio-Technica products in the United Kingdom and many other countries. Audio-Technica has been dedicated to advancing the art and technology of electro-acoustic design and manufacturing since 1962.

SAVING THE PASTOR FROM THE PERILS OF FEEDBACK

Jeff Sims, owner of Sims Music & Sound, Gainesville, Florida, did not get the initial contract to install the sound system into Gainesville, Florida’s largest church, the Trinity United Methodist Church. Instead, the job came to him in a call for help from the pastors and congregation. Poor-sound-quality wireless microphones and uncontrollable feedback plagued the immense, newly constructed church and caused church leaders to seek help from a local contractor.

“The first thing we did was to lend them a Sabine Wireless Lapel Microphone for a weekend demo,” states Sims. “It took me about 5 minutes to install the unit, select a channel and let the FBX Feedback Exterminator® ring out the feedback,” Sims remembers. “Right away, you could tell that the mic capsule sounded 10 times better than the well-known unit installed previously,” Sims asserts.

Sabine’s True Mobility Wireless opened the door for us."

“Sabine’s True Mobility Wireless opened the door for us,” Sims asserts. The following Monday the church leaders called to say they loved the mic and ask "...was there anything else Sims could do for them?"

Sims’ clean-up work was not over, however. Changes in church program venues compounded the sound system problems. “The program changed the minute the church was finished,” recalls Sims. “Services have expanded to include everything from a folk-music group to a 60-piece rock ensemble three Sundays a month at the mid service with 4 separate monitor mixes,” Sims states. “It seems that when the musicians could hear themselves,” Sims continues, “the congregation either suffered from bombastic feedback or was unable to hear the pastor.” Once again Sims solved the problem with Sabine Adaptive Audio equipment.

Sims chose 3 dual-channel GRQ3102 Graphi-Qs to provide feedback control and equalization to the monitor mixes and main outputs. The result is that the musicians can hear themselves and the congregation can hear the pastors.

Given the success with the Sabine microphones, selling the Graphi-Qs was the logical next step for Sims. “The Graphi-Q is a really good deal,” confides Sims. “You can’t buy this kind of quality signal processing separately for the price of a Graphi-Q,” he continues.

Q-Tips
New Wireless Connections:
Earlier this year we made improvements to the beltpack transmitter on our True Mobility SWM1600 and SWM3000 Series wireless mics. Even with all the features packed into these systems (FBX Feedback Exterminator, Compressor/Limiter, De-Esser, and built-in battery charger), we still found room for improvements. Based on your requests, these enhanced features make the beltpack more durable and easier to use.

Here’s what we did:
  • All controls (except on/off switch) are hidden behind the battery door to prevent accidental changes to crucial settings like channel number and gain.
  • The battery door is easier to open and more durable.
  • The battery contacts are improved to accept all the various 9-volt battery configurations, and the battery holding spring is also stronger.
  • The belt-clip is now made of metal and is more durable. And it has a very useful feature: you can spin it to mount the transmitter at any angle on your belt!
  • There is a larger, stronger, and more universally accepted 4-pin connector. This connector is a 4-pin Mini-XLR screw-on connector. It will be more durable, easier to repair, and easier to find than the current connector.

If you are ordering new or replacement microphones to work with your Sabine beltpacks, it is important that you order the mic with the proper connector. See the photo below for the proper combinations.
Look at your current beltpack and make sure you order the right mic. Both connectors are threaded and have 4 pins, so it can be easy to get it wrong. In short, the new style beltpacks have an “X” in the model number, and mics to fit these will also have that “X”.

You can see the original style is smaller than the newer “X” style. All orders for systems automatically get the newer style beltpacks and connectors.
