SABINE Upgrade Wizard v4

In order to keep your Sabine product in step with the latest technological advances, Sabine will periodically offer updated software and firmware for the SWM7000 receiver. Upgrading the firmware on your SWM7000 is similar to upgrading the operating system of your computer — just faster, easier and fool-proof!

Updating SWM7000 Receiver Firmware

To update your receiver firmware you will need the following:

  • A PC with an RS232 port
  • A Serial 9-pin cable

Alternatively, you can use PC with a USB port, USB cable and a USB to RS232 adapter. Several such adapters are currently available. for a list of proven adaptors. NOTE: Although the SWM7000 receiver can be controlled by the Remote Control Software using a USB connection, USB will not work for flashing units — unless a RS232/USB adaptor is used to attach to the receiver's Serial 9-pin RS232 port. NOTE: The Upgrade Wizard allows you to select between COM PORTs 1-4 only. You must assign your receiver to one of these ports in order to proceed with the firmware flashing. Furthermore, although the Remote Control Software can connect using USB, the Upgrade Wizard cannot flash your receiver though a USB connection. Click here for issues concerning COM Port selection and your RS232/USB adaptor.

IMPORTANT: Receivers must have back-panel dipswitch #7 in the DOWN (default) position.

  1. Connect your PC to a single receiver using either of the above cable systems. Check to see that the receiver's back-panel dipswitch #7 is in the DOWN (default) position.

  2. Open up the SWM7000 Remote Control Software, but do not click the software's Connect Receiver button.

  3. In the software's initial welcome screen menu bar, select Upgrade Wizard from the Help menu.

  4. Follow the Wizard's prompts to download the latest firmware. NOTE: Since the Upgrade Wizard also services the Sabine Graphi-Q, you will be asked to select between the Graphi-Q and the SWM7000, and then to select which version of the SWM7000 firmware to download. The most recently released firmware will always have "Current Release" written next to it. Click here for detailed instructions.

  5. Once you have downloaded the firmware, the Upgrade Wizard will prompt you to flash the receiver. This can only be done one receiver at a time. NOTE: On single-channel receivers (SW71-R & SW71-NDR), the Upgrade Wizard will flash up to four individual processors — depending on whether there is new code available. Dual-channel receivers (SW72-R & SW72-NDR) have up to five processors to flash. As each processor is successfully flashed with newer code, the Upgrade Wizard will ask you to turn off the receiver, click Next>> on the Upgrade Wizard screen, and then turn back on your receiver. When finished with the last updatable processor, the Upgrade Wizard will ask you to turn your receiver off and on one lat time. The Upgrade Wizard then polls the receiver to check that the System Firmware has been correctly installed and if so, displays a "Congratulations" screen. You may then quit then Upgrade Wizard. Click here for detailed instructions.

  6. You may now disconnect your receiver from your computer (if necessary), and reattach it to your system. If your receiver is part of a networked system of receivers, remember to reset back-panel dipswitch #7. The first receiver in a network has Dipswitch #7 in the DOWN (default) position. All other (up to 34) receivers have Dipswitch #7 in the UP position.
