Open the Upgrade Wizard from your START — Programs — Sabine directory. The Upgrade Wizard's Welcome screen will show. The Upgrade Wizard allows you to:
- Download the latest software or firmware
- Flash your Sabine unit with whatever firmware file is currently within the Sabine directory.
IMPORTANT: In order for the Upgrade Wizard to update the receiver System Firmware, dipswitch #7 located on the back-panel of the receiver must be in the DOWN (default) position.
Click Next>> on the Upgrade Wizard Welcome screen to proceed.
Select the SWM7000 radio button and click Next>>
Select the "Upgrade Firmware" radio button and click Next>>
To download firmware from Sabine, select the "Download latest firmware..." check box and click Next>>You must be connected to the Internet to download Sabine firmware or Software. NOTE: Firmware files are very small (128 KB). Software files are upwards of 10 MB.
A list of firmware files will appear. Select the one you would like to download and click Next>>NOTE: In most cases, you should select the file marked "Current Release." Other files listed may be older firmware versions or unreleased BETA versions. BETA versions are for testing purposes only and are not warranted by Sabine.
This screen appears when the firmware download has completed. The firmware system file is now located in your Sabine directory of your computer hard drive and will be used by the Upgrade Wizard if you elect to continue with the firmware upgrade process. ONLY ONE firmware system file can exist in this directory.
If the receiver you wish to upgrade is not available, you may Exit out of the Upgrade Wizard until such time as you are able to connect to the receiver. At that time, the Upgrade Wizard will use the downloaded file to update your receiver.
Select the COM PORT to which your receiver is connected.NOTES:
- When using the Upgrade Wizard to flash a receiver with new firmware, only one receiver can be connected to your computer.
- You must use the RS232 port on the receiver and a Serial 9-pin cable to flash new firmware. If you do not have an RS232 port on your computer, you can use a USB-to-RS232 adaptor. See the Sabine website for a list of proven adaptors.
This screen appears if the Upgrade Wizard is not able to find your receiver. Clicking Next>> will allow you to select a different COM PORT.If you are using a USB to RS232 adaptor, click number 8 on this page to see information about clearing and selecting your COM PORT.
This screen displays the current SWM7000 system firmware installed in your receiver and the version of system firmware that the Upgrade Wizard would use to flash the receiver. At this point, you can compare the two versions and decide whether flashing your receiver is necessary. Click Next>> if you wish to proceed with flashing and Exit if you do not.
IMPORTANT: In order for the Upgrade Wizard to update the receiver System Firmware, dipswitch #7 located on the back-panel of the receiver must be in the DOWN (default) position.
Once your COM PORT has been selected, the Upgrade Wizard waits to detect the rebooting of your receiver. If you have not already done so, turn your receiver off and the on now. The Upgrade Wizard will detect the reboot, erase the previous systems firmware and then commence to flash the first updatable processor.NOTE: On single-channel receivers (SW71-R & SW71-NDR), the Upgrade Wizard will flash up to four individual processors — depending on whether there is new code available. Dual-channel receivers (SW72-R & SW72-NDR) have up to five processors to flash. As each processor is successfully flashed with newer code, the Upgrade Wizard will ask you to turn off the receiver, click Next>> on the Upgrade Wizard screen, and then turn back on your receiver.
When finished with the last updatable processor, the Upgrade Wizard will ask you to turn your receiver OFF & ON one lat time. The Upgrade Wizard then polls the receiver to check that the System Firmware has been correctly installed and if so, displays a "Congratulations" screen. You may then quit then Upgrade Wizard (mouseover #12 to see Congratulations screen).
You may now disconnect your receiver from your computer (if necessary), and reattach it to your system (you are also ready to flash your next receiver).NOTE: If the newly updated receiver is part of a networked system of receivers, remember to reset back-panel dipswitch #7. The first receiver in a network has Dipswitch #7 in the DOWN (default) position. All other (up to 34) receivers have Dipswitch #7 in the UP position.
