Graphi-Q is Big Hit at Williamstown Festival Theatre
Alachua, Florida — “I have all the sound processing I need in one box — and I can plug it in and set it up in minutes — that’s why I like the Sabine Graphi-Q,” attests Kurt Kellenberger, Williamstown Theatre Festival’s (Williamstown, Massachusetts) Supervising Sound Designer.

The Theatre Festival’s hectic schedule makes user-friendly and reliable audio equipment a necessity. “The Graphi-Q is amazingly easy to use,” states Kellenberger. “We do eleven shows in as many weeks, plus Live Theatre, poetry readings and more — with only a fraction of the setup time,” he continues. “With only two days to setup for what might take two weeks on Broadway, we need the power, reliability and simplicity of Sabine to make the show happen.”

Says Kellenberger, “I wasn’t familiar with Sabine products until Theatrix told me what the Graphi-Qs could do,” Kellenberger recalls. “After that, I was very interested in trying them out.” Theatrix, Inc. (Belchertown, Massachusetts) included Sabine digital processing in its two-year rental package for the Theatre Festival. Kellenberger now uses ten GRQ-3102’s split up between the three main venues: four Graphi-Qs for the main stage, four on the Cabaret, and two units on the Nico stage.
“Everything about the Graphi-Q is great: the DSP is clean, the EQ sounds great, compression sounds great, delay sounds great, and the FBX works very well and does its own thing automatically.”

“The Graphi-Q allows me to eliminate three separate devices — EQ, Compressor/Limiter and delay — that otherwise would need to be inline to each speaker,” claims Kellenberger. “We come out of the board into the Graphi-Qs and then right into the Meyers self-powered speakers,” he explains. “And that means fewer connections and much less cable to go bad — and a smaller, more portable rack.”

The Graphi-Q™ is the world’s only All Digital 31-Band EQ, FBX Feedback Exterminator®, Compressor & Delay, all in one and comes in single channel (one in, two out) or dual channel (two in, two out) models.

Sabine’s FBX-Feedback Exterminator® is an important asset to the Theatre Festival sound system, particularly on the acoustically difficult cabaret stage, located within a converted church. States Kellenberger, “With all the low an mid-range frequencies bouncing around the room, Sabine’s feedback control comes in quite handy. It gives us a lot more gain — a very noticeable difference.”

The Graphi-Q’s PC Remote Control Software is another important Sabine advantage. “We like the PC interface,” states Kellenberger. “With it we can to link units together, save, download and/or recreate settings with ease.”

An estimated 40,000 people attended the Williamstown Festival Theatre’s Main Stage, Nikos Stage, Cabaret and Free Theatre during the 2001 season.

Sabine also manufactures the True Mobility™ Wireless Systems, including the hot, new 2.4 GHz Smart Spectrum Wireless Systems with Targeted Input Processing (FBX, Compressor/Limiter, De-Esser) and digital Mic SuperModeling™; UHF & VHF True Mobility™ Wireless Systems; POWER-Q™ (nine Pro Audio products in one 2U unit); REAL-Q2™ Real-Time Adaptive Equalizer; FBX-SOLO Feedback Exterminators®; and the SDA-102™ Digital Delay.
