HELPS ORLANDO MARRIOTT BREAKOUT SAFELY Six Sabine Graphi-Qs Control Feedback in Breakout Rooms of Orlando World Center, Marriott |
ALACHUA FLORIDA A great product at a great price and no client complaints! is how Brooke Mellington, Audio Specialist for the Orlando World Center, Marriott, describes the benefits of using six Graphi-Q remote-controlled FBX Feedback Exterminators® for the World Centers breakout rooms. Clients get clear, crisp audio with plenty of headroom, and Mellington and his crew of audio technicians no longer get phone calls from irate clients about feedback problems. The Graphi-Qs allow World Center technicians to set up the breakout room audio system and then leave it alone while the meetings are in progress. The six Sabine Graphi-Qs are built into rolling SKB road cases that plug into the World Centers sound distribution system. Once the meeting space has been configured, the audio technicians use the Graphi-Qs digital 31-band EQ to adjust the room sound, and then use the FBX to ring out feedback. In our larger general sessions as many as 5,200 attendees the Graphi-Qs are our safety valve, states Mellington. I use them on podium mics, and definitely when I have wireless mics on stage, he continues. Wireless lavalier mics are the most popular request I get up to 24 wireless lavalier mics on stage at a time and because of that, the Sabine Graphi-Qs have been a lifesaver, Mellington asserts. According to Mellington, clients are free to run all over the stage; podium mics can be live and used, or not used; and that motivational speaker who, surprise, just hops off the stage and he didnt do that in rehearsal can go right into the audience without fear of feedback! The Graphi-Q is a digital 31-band EQ, FBX Feedback Exterminator®, compressor and delay and comes in single channel (one in, two out) or dual channel (two in, two out) models. The GRQ3101 (single-channel) and GRQ3102 (dual-channel) Graphi-Qs can be controlled by their front panels or by very powerful computer software. The GRQ3101-S (single-channel) and GRQ3102-S (dual-channel) Graphi-Qs have blank front panels and are computer controlled. All Graphi-Qs have 70 on-board program memories, multi-unit linking ability and password protection. Furthermore, current and future software and firmware revisions are FREE from Sabine's website. The Orlando World Center has 66 meeting rooms with a total of 214,000 square feet of meeting space. Shows are held two to three times a week and average three to five days in duration. The Graphi-Qs are in use daily, says Mellington, and since we stated using them, the drop in client calls [for feedback trouble] has been 100%. |

The Orlando Marriott audio
design team designed the breakout room system, with component sourcing
through SGA Audio Design & Services of Orlando, Florida. Our
Technical Production Manager Will Seaton advised us that the Graphi-Q
was just what we needed to solve the breakout room feedback problem,
recalls Mellington. We would get calls from clients about feedback
in the rooms often due to clients adjusting their own volumes
he explains. But with the Graphi-Q installed, Mellington
continues, there is more headroom than could ever be used, and
no chance of feedback. Mellington also is impressed with the easy learning curve the Graphi-Q offers his technical staff. Its very easy to explain and teach someone how to use [the Graphi-Q], he states, and thats important when you have more than 20 people on your staff. Product support is an important Sabine benefit. Weve always had good support from Sabine. States Mellington. If I call Sabine up and say that I have a problem and need a product delivered by a certain date, Sabine responds and the product is delivered on time. As for new Sabine products, Mellington has already budgeted for the new Sabine SWM7000 Series True Mobility 2.4 GHz Smart Spectrum Wireless Systems. I am very anxious to get the new Sabine 2.4 GHz on the property he asserts. With the number of wireless lav requests we have to contend with, we need the up to 70-simultaneous-system capability offered by Sabines new wireless. The SWM7000 allows up to 70 units to operate within a single location. In addition, the 2.4 GHz band is globally accepted and clear of the new DTV frequencies. The SWM7000 is available in one- and two-channel models and includes Sabine's built-in Targeted Input Processing: FBX Feedback Exterminator®, compressor/limiter and intelligent de-esser. Furthermore, The SWM7000s Mic SuperModeling lets users select the best mic for any situation with the touch of a button. Systems are available with handheld, lavalier, or headset microphones. Sabine also manufactures the True Mobility Wireless Systems, including the hot, new 2.4 GHz Smart Spectrum Wireless Systems with Targeted Input Processing (FBX, Compressor/Limiter, De-Esser) and digital Mic SuperModeling; UHF & VHF True Mobility Wireless Systems; POWER-Q (nine Pro Audio products in one 2U unit); REAL-Q2 Real-Time Adaptive Equalizer; FBX-SOLO Feedback Exterminators®; and the SDA102 Digital Delay. |
