SABINE GIVES JOHN CONLEE WORRY-FREE WIRELESS

Alachua, Fl – Country super-star John Conlee and his band are relying on Sabine’s 2.4 Wireless to see them through the upcoming turbulence with UHF wireless microphones.
“I use Sabine on my guitar wireless and I've been very pleased with it,” says Steve Sechler, Conlee’s tour manager, bandleader and lead guitarist for 25 years. “I don't hear any difference between the sound with the Sabine wireless or with a cable. It sounds good,” Sechler says. “We've been using Sabine Wireless for a long time and these guys were way in front of the industry on dealing with the problems with UHF mics. We're glad that we adopted this technology.”
Sechler started using Sabine Wireless three years ago for his guitar rig. “The system is very clean, with dropout free reception and excellent clarity,” says Sechler. “The SWM7000 wireless receiver allows us to have a wireless mic operating on one channel and guitar wireless on the other, all in one rack space.”
Sabine has been offering professional wireless systems that operate entirely outside of the UHF band since the FCC announced the upcoming changes six years ago. As the RF spectrum space available for UHF mics continues to decrease, Sabine offers what may be the only alternative to this crisis: wireless mics that use the 2.4 GHz frequency band instead of UHF and VHF.
“We go everywhere with this system and it works,” says Nestor Eaton, Conlee's Front of House engineer. “We love the way it sounds. We use the H15 capsule from Sabine with the Audix head, and receiver’s Mic Super Modeling set on the SM58. That works really well for John. He's got a very powerful voice with a lot in the upper mids, and this mic helps smooth that out very well.”
“We tried other wireless and they worked OK at first, but they just didn't hold up,” adds Sechler. “The Sabine units just keep working.”
Sabine’s SWM7000 Series incorporates their patent-pending Smart Spectrum™ technology — a breakthrough in RF technology that allows up to 70 simultaneous wireless systems to operate with maximum fidelity. These same 70 channels are globally accepted so the same systems can work anywhere in the world.
Smart Spectrum Wireless features long-life rechargeable NiMH batteries and each transmitter has a built-in charger jack. The convenient handheld microphone clip doubles as a charger stand — whenever a handheld mic is in the clip, the battery is recharging.
SWM7000 receivers are available in one- and two-receiver-channel models and come with Sabine's built-in Targeted Input Processing™ that includes the FBX Feedback Exterminator®, a compressor/limiter, an adaptive de-esser and parametric filters.
John Conlee was raised in Kentucky and started his career in Nashville as a radio disc jockey. His singing career was launched in 1978 with the hit song “Rose Colored Glasses.” That song made it to the Top Five and helped land Conlee the “Top New Male Vocal Award” from the Academy of Country Music that year. He followed that success in 1979 with two number one hits “Lady Lay Down” and “Backside of Thirty.” Through the years John has made it to the Top Ten nineteen times, with hits like “Common Man,” “She Can't Say That Anymore,” ”Friday Night Blues,” “Domestic Life,” and “Before My Time.”
In addition the built-in digital signal processing in the 2.4 GHz systems the Conlee band uses Sabine’s Mic SuperModeling™. A touch of the front panel dial brings up a choice of several well-known dynamic or condenser mic elements. Sabine's standard capsule on the SWM7000 series is an Audix OM-3, with the Audix OM-5 and a Voice Technologies condenser capsule available as options.
All SWM7000 systems come with very powerful remote control software. SWM7000-ND Series receivers include both analog and digital audio outputs and allow for networking of up to 70 channels using a single computer.
Series 7000 systems are available with handheld, lavalier, or headworn microphones. Switchcraft TA4F connectors allow users to choose other lavalier and headset mics for use with the 7000 Series. Accessories include a rack-mount antenna distribution amplifier for up to six receivers and a low-profile extension antenna well suited for unobtrusive wall mounting.
Sabine also makes the Navigator Series multi-input/output digital system processor with full loudspeaker management, FBX Feedback Exterminator, Graphic Q series, and the Phantom Mic Processor.
