SABINE POWER-Q MIXES WELL WITH AC/DC, BLACK SABBATH & OZZY

Sabine Power-Q Makes Life Easier for Veteran Sound Engineer John Roden
Alachua, Florida — “The Power-Q wakes me up in the morning with a nice cup of tea, turns on the shower to body temperature, then it makes breakfast and follows me in to work, where I wake up and realise that it is just an audio tool, but what an incredible tool it is,” proclaims John Roden, monitor mixer for AC/DC, Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne.
Roden credits Tony Oates of Fuzion PLC, (London, UK) with his introduction to Sabine technology. “I am always interested in tools that will make life easier,” the veteran sound engineer states.
On the advice of Oates, Roden put the Power-Q to the test during the Black Sabbath reunion show in 1997 and remembers being immediately impressed by its versatility and power. “The 'search and destroy' feature has most definitely made me look really good on more than one occasion,” he confides.

“The Power-Q wakes me up in the morning with a nice cup of tea, turns on the shower to body temperature, then it makes breakfast and follows me in to work, where I wake up and realise that it is just an audio tool, but what an incredible tool it is.”
Roden uses the Power-Q as a vocal insert when he mixes for AC\DC, Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne. “The Power-Q is quiet and allows you to find the exact [feedback] frequency, narrow it down and not even notice the filter is in your system,” Roden attests, “but you can notice the extra dB of gain it gives you.”
User friendliness is an important Power-Q advantage to Roden. “Navigating the menus is relatively easy, even for an old analogue bloke like myself,” Roden states.
The Power-Q™ ADF-4000 Digital Workstation combines the functions of nine separate products into one easy-to-use 2U package. The 24-bit, two-channel Power-Q contains Parametric EQ (up to 12 band per channel, with low and high pass filters), 31-band Graphic EQ with adjustable filter widths, full-featured Real-Time Analyzer, Compressor/Limiter, Delay, Noise Gate and 24 patented FBX Feedback Exterminator® filters (12 per channel). The Power-Q allows all functions to operate concurrently.
Sabine Power-Q is used also by Wigwam’s (UK) masterful FOH engineer, Mike Dolling (Spice Girls, Boyzone).

Sabine also manufactures the True Mobility™ Wireless Systems, including the hot, new 2.4 GHz Smart Spectrum Wireless Systems with Targeted Input Processing (FBX, Compressor/Limiter, De-Esser) and digital Mic SuperModeling™; UHF & VHF True Mobility™ Wireless Systems; POWER-Q™ (nine Pro Audio products in one 2U unit); REAL-Q2™ Real-Time Adaptive Equalizer; FBX-SOLO Feedback Exterminators®; and the SDA-102™ Digital Delay.
