SABINE
SWM7000 WIRELESS WAKES UP AMERICA
WITH “THE DAILY BUZZ”
This
nationally syndicated morning TV news and weather show
relies on Sabine for the best sound in wireless.
The
newest three-hour morning news and weather TV show,
the Daily Buzz,
is how young professionals wake up five days a week
in over 135 cities throughout the United States. This
show is definitely “not your father’s Oldsmobile”
with regular features like “The Water Cooler”,
“Mitch’s World”, and “Trash
or Worth the Cash.”
“Everybody
has a lot of fun. Even the camera crew regularly throws
in their two cents,” says Dano Thieneman, The
Daily Buzz’s Broadcast Engineer. “Outbursts
and laughing were clipping our old wired microphone
system, so we started looking for outboard compressors.”
That is when they discovered Sabine’s new SWM7000
Smart Spectrum Wireless Microphones. Each receiver
has a full set of built-in DSP processing and each parameter
is individually tailored to the talent’s requirements.
“We don’t use all of the functions available,
but the compressor, de-esser and EQ are indispensable
to us”, says Dano. “Also having both analog
and AES outputs will save us the cost of converters
as we move toward digital audio,” he adds.
The
Daily Buzz uses three SWM7200 dual-channel systems for
a total of six channels. A 75-foot run of RG8 antenna
cable connects a pair of extension antennas mounted
in the studio to an SWM6SS Antenna Distribution Amp
and the receivers in the production room. “In
the beginning, we monitored the whole system with a
laptop, but now we just turn the system on and it runs
itself.”
Sabine’s
SWM Remote software provides full control of up to 70
channels of wireless. Complete system monitoring is
available, as well as a full-featured RF scanner.
The
Daily Buzz takes advantage of the built-in rechargeable
battery system. “I have better things to do at
3:00 AM than to start my day changing batteries,”
Dano said. They plug the transmitters into the charger
at the end of each show -- just like a cell phone --
so they are ready to go the next morning. Using this
simple system, the show saves the cost of more than
3,000 batteries per year. Dano says, “It is more
than convenient, it makes management happy.”
“We
have used several big wireless brands over the years
but none sound as good as Sabine’s. Tune in any
morning and hear them for yourself. They sound even
better than our wired mics.” says Dano.
The
talent on the Daily Buzz use Sabine’s Voice Technologies
SWTVT50 lavalier microphones and Sabine offers several
other high quality lavalier and headworn mics from this
Swiss company. Sabine also offers three different handheld
mics and a complete line of transmitter and antenna
accessories.
